Berek Bryan - 2024 QF Athlete

We have 19 of our members make it to the Quarterfinals of the CrossFit Games this year. These individuals are the top 25% of the field. What helps them reach this level of success? Lets find out.

Berek qualified for Individual Men and Men (35-39)

1. How often do you train? What do you do for recovery? What does your nutrition look like?
I train 5 days a week. I do our group classes MTTF and open gym on Sunday.
My rest days are Wed and Sat. Pre-bed routine, get good consistent sleep, walking, reading, breathing, finding time of stillness (warm low light showers, no music when driving, journaling), adjusting my intensity level throughout the week. Bunch more.
Nutrition. Omelet, yogurt and fruit, toast and coffee for breakfast. Plate method for lunch and dinner (meat, veg, starch). Banana with “peanut butter” for dessert (2 tbsp casein + 1 tbsp pb2 + water)

2. Why do you workout? Do you like competing?
Kick ass into my 90s. Be an asset for my family rather than a lability.
Yes. I’m not super competitive by I love competing and I love being pushed.

3. What are your top 3 favorite workout movements?
Snatch/ohs, Back Squats, pull-ups. I skill movements.
What movements am I good at: double-unders, taking a barbell from overhead to the back rack.

4. What was your goal for the Open? What is your goal for QF?

Same goal for both. Have fun, maximize my current fitness, and push myself.

5. What is your daytime gig?
Owner/Operator of Equity Fitness. Working towards being a better human, husband, father, friend, leader.

6. How do you balance working out with life?
I make is a priority. I time block it. I keep it flexible. A workout can be 10:00 in the garage if needed.

7. Do you have any other hobbies?
Yup. Total War: Warhammer, gardening, reading, movies.

8. What advice would you give to ....

someone just starting their workout journey?
Consistency. You have to keep doing the work consistency.

Get strong.
