1. How did you get started on your Crossfit journey? Kelly and I were attending Body Force fitness. I wanted to get into something more structured and vigorous. We were doing a boot camp where the old gym used to be. I saw the crossfit gym and walked over to check it out. Berek was there. It was our first time meeting. I was impressed with the style of crossfit. The gymnastics and Olympic weight lifting. It definitely fit the bill for a more rigorous workout program.
2. How many years have you been a member at Equity? Since 2014. 8-9 years.
3. Best advice for someone thinking of joining Equity? Proper coaching is key to avoid injuries. Crossfit workouts daily will increase your body’s strength, endurance, flexibility, stamina,… Attending crossfit classes on a regular basis opens opportunities to meet new people. Make lifelong friends. Like a new family.
4. What was your first impression and how has that changed? I was impressed by the athletic abilities of the crossfit members. I still am impressed.
5. How has the gym improved your life? Has maintained my strength, health, flexibility. Has brought me into the company of just awesome people in our community. I have made great friends. When we do some of these hard workouts together it brings a sense of comradery with the other athletes. How will the gym improve your life in the future? Crossfit is part of my plan to stay fit and healthy as I get older.
6. What do you do for a living and how has Crossfit impacted that? We have a construction company. We build and renovate/ remodel. I do hire crews to do much of the work although I personally work right along side of my crews. Staying fit, healthy and strong is beneficial to being capable of performing physically demanding construction work. Crossfit has most definitely helped me to maintain that physical ability.
7. What is your proudest moment at the gym and/or favorite moment? Our children have grown up going to the gym. When I see my daughter or son hitting a PR, I am very proud of them. The moment when you realize your instilling the value of self-improvement and health in the mindset of your children. At least I know I’m doing at least one thing right as a parent.
