Cole Morris - 2024 QF Athlete
We have 19 of our members make it to the Quarterfinals of the CrossFit Games this year. These individuals are the top 25% of the field. What helps them reach this level of success? Lets find out.
Cole qualified for Individual Women and Women (35-39)
1. How often do you train? What do you do for recovery? What does your nutrition look like?
I train 5-6 days a week, with the 6th day being a tad more relaxed.
I don’t really do anything special for recovery 🤔. I just try to listen to my body and refrain from things like rx+ if I’m feeling super sore.
My nutrition is decent but not perfect. I focus on getting a protein/starch/veggies every lunch and dinner (fats find their way in my meals without thinking about it via olive oil, cheese, guac, etc). Breakfast always has a protein/starch but typically includes berries instead of a veggie (room for improvement). Post dinner snacks are my main downfall most days 😂.
2. Why do you workout? Do you like competing?
I workout to stay healthy, feel good, and because I enjoy it. I’ve always been an athlete and enjoy being able to continue to “compete” to an extent, while staying healthy and being with friends
3. What are your top 3 favorite workout movements?
Deadlift, hspu, cleans? Idk lol
4. What was your goal for the Open? What is your goal for QF?
Goal for the open was to finish in the top 10%.
Goal for quarterfinals is to be able to do each workout in some capacity and to have fun.
5. What is your daytime gig?
Stay at home mom with the kiddos and part time coach here at Equity whoop whoop 🙌.
6. How do you balance working out with life?
Spending an hour a day on myself (working out) is non negotiable. Health is a priority as I can’t be here for my family if I’m not here. Having the best Gmom to help with the kiddos makes this easier 🙏. However, if we weren’t so fortunate, Joe and I would tag team the kids and find a way to make it happen still.
7. Do you have any other hobbies?
Exercise is really my favorite/only hobby. It’s been a part of my life since I was little and I just really enjoy it.
8. What advice would you give to ....
someone just starting their workout journey?
Show up, work hard, and trust the process. It’s not going to happen all at once, and the long game is what’s important.
someone wanting to reaching QF in the future?
Those looking to make quarterfinals should really follow that same advice, as well as consider seeking individualized/goal specific supplemental work and coaching
