What Should You Do If You're Hurt?
There is risk in all physical activities. Walking down the street you can trip and break a wrist.
Even when moving with good mechanics injuries can happen. Most injuries that we see in the gym actually stem from outside and in everyday life and the gym exposes the issue. No matter where the injury came from we want to learn from it and get better.
Here are three people to consider when you are hurt.
1) Family Doctor and Specialist
These people know their stuff and hopefully insurance can cover it. This is the place to start. The have trained to get people from sickness to wellness. The down side is they might not understand why you want or need to run, lift weights, or do pull-ups.
2) Activity Specific Professionals
Imagine if a physical therapist, chiropractor, ART practitioner did the activity that you did and want to continue doing. They would be a complete advocate to get you back in action. The downside is this will be an out of pocket cost.
3) Your Equity Coaches
We know how to build peoples’ strength, stability, movement mechanics, health, and fitness. We understand how to tailor workouts, build accessory programs, and build plans to get back to do what you enjoy doing. We get to see you multiple time a week and have a really good understanding of you strengths and weakness and we can use that information to help.
The downside is we focus on minor issues, healthcare professions deal with major issues. We are also out of pocket cost.
Thank you for Lindsay G. for giving me the idea for this post. I hope you never need this information but if you do I hope it helps.
