12 Words Limiting Your Confidence - The Equity Podcast 042

“Hey you maybe want to go out sometime?” How would this make you feel if someone asked you out this way.

“I had a great time at the party the other night, want to go to a Movie Saturday night?” Now how would this make you feel.

The second one is direct and confident, the first is passive and indirect.

Confidence is having trust in yourself. It is constantly doing what you said you would do. By talking “soft” to yourself and others you can never build that trust because you are never direct enough with your language.

YOUR WORDS AND YOUR LANGUAGE MATTERS.

Change your language and you will change yourself.

  1. COULD

  2. THINK

  3. MAYBE

  4. GUESS

  5. MIGHT

  6. POSSIBLY

  7. PROBABLY

  8. SORT OF

  9. KIND OF

  10. PERPHAPS

  11. HOPEFULLY

  12. TRY

These words create soft talk and soft talk kills confidence. If you want to start building more confidence in yourself and project more confidence this is a great way to start.

Awareness, intention, action

Be aware when you are using these words. Intentionally look for them when you are writing or speaking. Take action by replace and/or removing this words.

Write them down and large font and display them where you will see them and start being mindful about how you communicate with yourself and others.
