Krista Bryan - 2024 QF Athlete

We have 19 of our members make it to the Quarterfinals of the CrossFit Games this year. These individuals are the top 25% of the field. What helps them reach this level of success? Lets find out.

Krista qualified for Individual Women and Women (40-44)

1. How often do you train? What do you do for recovery? What does your nutrition look like?

My goal is to train at least 3 days a week, sometimes up to 5 if the schedule works out.  For recovery, I focus on giving myself off days/mobilizing and strengthening joints and muscles, getting ~8hrs of sleep, and focusing on fueling my body with proper nutrition (mostly protein and veggies, some heavy carbs, and limiting alcohol and sugars)

2. Why do you workout? Do you like competing?

I workout both for my physical and mental health.  It's ME time.  I enjoy the challenges of the workouts both physically and mentally. I also am aware that building strength(muscle) is SUPER important as we age and I want to maintain that for as long as possible.

Yes I like competing, especially with a partner or on a team.  Although, I have taken a step back post child and a new knee to just focus on the competition/challenges within myself.

3. What are your top 3 favorite workout movements?

Hard question - Snatch, Bar MU, and DU

4. What was your goal for the Open? What is your goal for QF?

My goal for the open - Initially was to just have fun and do my best, but I then asked myself "Can I try to complete all the workouts RX?"  being 1 year post op knee replacement.

My goal for QF - Do my best and see what I am capable of at this current part of my journey

5. What is your daytime gig?

Mom/Co-owner Equity Fitness/Coach Equity Fitness

6. How do you balance working out with life?

Having a support system available is a plus (parents/husband to support my goals and help take care of responsibilities when I'm at the gym), Living by my calendar and knowing my schedule and how I can fit in/time block my workouts throughout the week, Working out is a part of my life and my ME time so when my schedule is off it affects other parts of my life as well.

7. Do you have any other hobbies?

When I have time I like to Bake/Sew/Bowl

8. What advice would you give to ....

someone just starting their workout journey?

If you are just starting your workout journey, "something is better than nothing".  Focus on moving well and building strength, consistency is key to continue seeing progress and maintain your health as we age.

someone wanting to reaching QF in the future?

Consistency throughout the year, dialing in on nutrition and sleep, knowing and working your weakness and hitting up a coach for some skill sessions if you want that extra help to real dial in those new skills

Have Fun, Work Hard, Don't Be Too Hard On Yourself, It's not about today, it's about the lifelong journey of health/fitness.
