Sometimes you Win, Sometimes you Learn

As many of us have learned from the gym not succeeding at something is inevitable. Everyone fails. The difference between those that succeed and those that don’t are the ones that learn from their failures.

There is always something to learn in a failure. If you miss a snatch and breakdown why you missed it you learn from that and in turn get better overall. Progress is not linear, progress does not always go up and to the right. There are ups, downs, and side steps. Our goal should be to work TOWARDS better everyday, actually being better everyday is unrealistic.

I come back to John C. Maxwell again. His work really has helped me grow as a person and his book Sometimes you Win--Sometimes you Learn is a great book.

During this time of isolation and hardship I find this book and concept very reassuring. Through hard times we can get stronger. Stress is how we will get better in the gym. By lifting more and going faster we become more fit. Through downturns and hard spots in our life, we can learn from those experiences and get better. We can level up personally and become better people.

We are still in the middle of this hardship but start thinking about what you have learned from this experience and how you can become better during and after this.

Do you have a question or comment about winning and learning? I would love to hear about it, let me know. berek.bryan@equity.fitness
